Two diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan will function in Switzerland
14 yanvar 2012

President Ilham Aliyev signed  a law adopted on 30 December last year  by  the parliament  of the country on the establishment of  the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Switzerland. On January 13, he  signed a decree  on  providing activities of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.

There is an Embassy of Azerbaijan in  Switzerland, but so far  the diplomatic mission carried out two functions. Thus,  there is a  Permanent Mission operating  at UN Office  in Geneva  and other international organizations, and  there is an Embassy in Bern.

So far, they operated under the unified leadership (currently  the Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission  is H.E. Dr. Murad Najafbayli).

Now,  the diplomatic mission will be divided,  the Embassy and Permanent mission will operate independently.

In accordance with the Decree of the President,  it was instructed  to approve the structure and staffing of embassies in Switzerland.
